For people like me who love watches there’s nothing more frustrating than knowing that a watch I’ll probably never be able to afford – but would treasure – is being worn by a celebrity with no appreciation of the art of effort that went into making it.

Ok so I’m not really serious, but it does annoy me a bit. Maybe I sound bitter, but that’s only because I’ve just been browsing VintageWatchBrands.com and have decided on about ten different ones I’d like to buy. And, surprisingly, can afford none of them!

I don ‘t really mind when I see celebrities wearing expensive watches of course, but it would be nice to hear why they chose the watch and what makes it special for them. Of course, good luck to anyone that can afford a watch like a vintage Rolex!

So, I hear you ask, which watches would I like to buy? As I said earlier, there are more than a few, but some of my favorites are the Constantin Malte and Omega Seamaster series. There are a lot of different types of those watches, so I’d need to spend some time looking at the different options. But those are the main ones I’d go for if I had some spare money.

If I had to choose just one watch it would be the Omega Seamaster 300. For a sports watch it has an amazing elegance to it that I don’t think other watches can match. The great thing about watches is that everyone has a different opinion though, so I’d be interested to hear what everyone else thinks and what their favorite watch is.

I just got a new phone and just had to visit this old crank of a blog of mine to write about it!

On that note, Im not sure what to do with this site, I planned to write more on it, but lately Ive been using facebook for my ramblings and chats, blogs seem a bit last decade at the moment… but I digress… back to my new toy!

I have spent ages shopping around for the best mobile phone for my needs. Of course I started out looking at the iPhone 4, but frankly balked at the price of the thing. It is very expensive, and though pretty I could not justify the cost.

Also, I dont like the way Apple lock everything down regarding their apps, special screws (so you cannot open the case) and their general attitude towards their customers. So, slick as the iphone is, and despite its really high build quality I passed.

So, what is the next best thing to the iphone? Well, in my opinion that would have to be an Android phone by HTC. These things have really been taking the market by storm of late, and I did not have to go far to get a demo as a few friends of mine are now using HTC phones.

The thing that makes HTC a little bit special is their custom interface (SENSE) which is loaded on top of the default Android operating system from Google. This does have one draw back though, which is that you have to wait longer for the OS updates than you would with a pure Android phone like a Nexus. This is because you have to wait for HTC to update their “SENSE” skin for each Android release before you can update your phone.

So, if running the latest possible version of Android matters to you then HTC may not be for you, but for me, I am happy to trade a slightly older OS to get the enhanced usability offered by HTC.

If you are wondering what all the fuss is about then check out this video:

In terms of prices, there are lots of great deals around on HTC phones at the moment, I was even able to find a dedicated comparison site for HTC contract phones (bestmobilephonedeals.me) which was pretty cool. It lists the same deals as other sites, but its a little quicker as you can find the HTC deals faster than a larger generic site.

Overall Im really pleased with this phone, having so many apps freely available is a great bonus, though I think the net result will be that I blog less and use FaceBook more… blogging is not easy from a phone, but the desire has a great little app for FaceBook

The new Call of Duty is coming out soon, and it has to be one of the most eagerly anticipated games of all time. There are loads of new features – as you’d expect – but the best bits of the old games have also been kept intact. The great thing about COD is that there are two developers, with one releasing a new game each year, which means that the games aren’t as rushed as other yearly series.

So what’s new in this version? The location of the game has changed, as it seems to each time. No longer are you in the second world war, although thankfully the developers haven’t tried to increase the “controversial” elements of the game by allowing you to fight as terrorists or anything like that. There are a number of new weapons to use, different levels and a whole new story.

The main part of COD is obviously the multiplayer though, and it seems this is where most of the time has been spent. There is a raft if different game modes and you can now bet on certain types of games with “money” you use to buy items and upgrades. It’s a shame that you can’t bet in regular games though, but it’s still a nice touch.

Graphics aren’t talked about so much anymore, mainly because we seem to have hit a sort of plateau and the visuals aren’t advancing anymore. It will be interesting to see whether this COD game has any motion sensing features built in, using the PS3, Kinect and Wii input devices. My guess is that it is probably too soon after release for that, but maybe the next one will have some sort of integration. It’ll be very interesting to see how this works though, because you don’t want the game play to be distracted by gimmicky controls.

All in all, I can’t wait for the new COD, although I don’t get as much time to play games as I used to. I’ve never been let down by the series, and there are a lot of features I want to try. The most important thing for me is that they get the balance of the multiplayer right, as that’s where most people will spend the majority of time. If they mess that up – and it gets bad reviews – then the whole thing could be over before it’s even started.

I think it’s great that the UK is trying to host different large sports events – they can bring the country together and give everyone something to talk about. The Olympics is the big one at the moment, and hopefully it will be a success. The bid for the 2018 World Cup is also going pretty well (apart from the recent newspaper allegations, although they were concerning FIFA).

So why should we get the World Cup? The main reason is that we already have most of the infrastructure needed to hold it. We have all the stadiums – Wembley, Old Trafford, The Emirates, the ground in Cardiff, the Olympic stadium, possibly Liverpool’s new stadium etc etc – so it would cost very little to do compared to the Olympics. These are all proven football grounds, so would be perfect for holding this big event.

Anyway, I’m sure we could host a much better competition than South Africa. That wasn’t really the South African’s fault – most of the football was boring and the horns drowned out most of the atmosphere – the actual organisation and presentation was very good. Still, hopefully the next few cups will be a lot better, otherwise I can see people starting to lose interest, especially if teams insists on playing defensively all the time.

Picking The Right Free Laptop With Mobile Phone Deal

I recently bought a new phone, and managed to get a free laptop with it! I picked up a few tips on the way, so hopefully I can help you a bit. If you want to get a free laptop with mobile phone, then one of the things you need to think about is which laptop you want to get. There are a wide range of different deals, but not all laptops were created equal! (I almost found this out the hard way by getting the wrong one)

The brand of laptop is important when choosing a mobile phone deal. Better brands often produce a greater build quality and hence faster computers. I got an Acer, which was great. Some of the most recognizable brands that can be found on free laptop deals include Acer, Sony and Apple. If there’s a particular brand that you like, don’t be afraid until a laptop from them becomes available, I had to wait a bit.

If you want to play games, then getting a laptop with a good graphics card is important. Often, gaming laptops are more expensive and are difficult to find on free laptop with mobile phone deals. On the higher priced contracts they may sometimes be available though, so keep an eye out if you’re a gamer. I wasn’t too bothered about games so I didn’t have to get a top of the range laptop.

Other features of the laptop that you should check include the hard drive space, processor speed and RAM. The size of the screen is also important, as this will affect how portable the laptop. If you can find online reviews of a particular laptop then this will help you to make an informed decision. I used a lot of reviews to make sure I was getting a decent deal.

Aside from the laptop itself, it’s also important to think about which mobile phone deal you want to get. Make sure you check the amount of minutes, texts and bandwidth that you get each month on the contract. You should also check which mobile phone handset you will receive with the deal, as free laptops are sometimes only available on lower priced contracts.
